I thought the moderators stated they would be releasing a new version during the spring so what happened

Hello. New version is still coming. Originally we aimed to release it before the summer but unfortunately there was unexpectedly lot of incompatibility issues with new development tools to fix.

We will continue to work with the new version and will come back later.

Hey again!

The new version is almost ready! I'm quite sure we'll get it out next week. Here is a screenshot from the current work-in-progress version.

With the new version you'll get:

- better physics (pin-ball reaction improved)
- open beach bowling level
- some new bowling balls
- some new oilpatterns

MasterTech: we don't have news section in the forum. We have a news section in our site where we have announced major changes. Information about upcoming versions we haven't yet announced to other than active players in the forum. Might start doing that in the future, though. Let's see....!

Now the game-crashing sound bug that bothered some players has also been fixed. At least one computer where it previously occurred does not see the problem anymore. :)

Unfortunately clean up of graphics related stuff when changing levels does not work properly in the new version. Next step for us getting it to work is to change the 3d engine to the latest version available. This may take a bit more time but we'll see....

Hey, and thanks paper! I'll probably include it! :)

The game is now working with the new 3d-engine but unfortunately changing it did not fix the problem we have with "clean up". So we'll have to investigate deeper next week...

Tomi, maybe you can split the back end of the lane and the approach area into two separate images so we could implement range finders.

BowlingRoss: thanks for your input! I will do this. :)

I will modify the level so that we'll have one long texture that covers the entire lane. This way one can paint anything to any part of the lane very easily. I'll also create a separate texture for the approach area so that it can be modified easily as well.

The clean up issue was solved today. There are no longer any major issues so I think we should be able to release this week... :)

maybye the possibility to add lenght and friction by typing RG,Diff and coverstock? i have used this formula but i ont know if it is perfect

length = ((((RG ) ^ 5 ) * 0.75) * cover)

please please please PLEASE PLEASE release it for mac. I'm a die hard BE fan and now that I only have a mac I'm having serious withdrawals. I'd buy the full version too if it was on mac.

But Tomi, will past alleys (like the Tournament alley) be compatible? If the developers will use a whole new filing format, then I'm afraid that old alleys that used the split texture format will render useless.

And will the oilbackground.png file be compatible with the whole alley texture? If yes, then it's good because we can see the oil near the arrows and the range finders (I just talked about), rather than guessing. I'm excited!

Hello again, I've got some good news for you:

Everything is more or less done now and we are aiming to release the next version TOMORROW!!! :)

Johan_1337: the ball configuration will remain as it is. I don't know about the variables coverstock, RD and diff you mentioned. Can you point me to the right direction? ;)

guffnuh: Yes! This is in our plan. Right after releasing for PC we'll look into releasing this new version also for Mac. Let's see how it turns out :)

BowlingRoss: old levels are compatible and level format remains the same -- altough I had to edit both old levels to get them load correctly. Actually the 2 old levels are also included so you can play all online games with the new version.

Oil texture is much smaller than lane texture and it only covers the lane from foul line to the bar, right before the first pin. Thus it is not as long shape as the lane texture. We can change this in the future version if needed.

Can't wait to put this new version out! Let's see how you'll like it ;)

hey guys is there a way of transferring the license over so we don't have to pay for the game again.. because i still have a couple months left on bowling evolution 1.10 so can someone help

Yep, old licenses are valid. You can also use the get license button to get it if you install to a new location or pc.

2.0 looks awesome! only problem is if I load old alleys they'll appear in a mess and render unbowlable. And the physics often lack the power to carry the 7 pin on a 1-3 hit, leaving me frequent 7-10s. Also, the ball deflects too much even with hooks, and frequently not getting to 5 pin to drop because of that.

Yea i agree, the ball deflection is too much, tons of 10 pins and 4-10s, there is a lot of bug fixes, but the pin physics really hasnt changed expect ball deflection, its just to unrealistic now, 1.10 seemed to have better pin physics

Tomi, can you make the fire.jpg and the Bowling wording under the fire picture centered? Like when I drew a square for the fire.jpg, some parts of the square will be gone and the top of the square will reappear on the bottom when it's in the game. :? I felt it's time to change that because it's very annoying to people who wants to customize their alleys. Also, old alleys DID have a compatibility problem, it'll appear in a mess and render unbowlable. :'(

well im not sure about it either accually. but it would be nice if you could insert "Real" facts like RG,MB, RG Diff and such to get the reaction of the ball as an alterantive to the length/friction.
